4 Year Old Guatemalan Rum
4 Year Old Guatemalan Rum
SINGLE CASK, AGED RUM GUATEMALA
This 4 year old, cask aged Guatemalan rum was produced by one of the most recognised South American distilleries with a world famous brand.
This rum has been aged exclusively in white American Oak Barrels for approximately 4 years in the UK. It was distilled in September 2020 in a continuous column still, resulting in a light and clean spirit that still retains plenty of character. The rum was bought as a fresh distillate and imported to the UK for further maturation and is currently lying in bond in the UK. It is light and approachable with a typical Spanish style.
Guatemalan rums are among the finest in the world, thanks to the region’s rich volcanic soil, fertile terroir, and a meticulous, time-honoured production process.. The geography plays a vital role — the volcanic landscape enriches the soil, producing exceptional sugarcane that forms the foundation of these distinctive, high-quality rums.
Organoleptic Evaluation
On The Nose:
Bright and aromatic with sweet notes of vanilla, honey, and light toffee. Hints of fresh cane, ripe banana, and a touch of coconut from the ex-bourbon oak. A delicate floral edge rounds out the youthful and expressive bouquet.
On the Palate:
Smooth and approachable with flavours of creamy caramel, baking spices (cinnamon, nutmeg), and a subtle citrus zest brightness. The influence of the bourbon cask brings layers of oak, toasted almond, and a whisper of white chocolate. Medium-bodied with a clean texture and gentle warmth.
The Finish:
Soft and lightly spiced, with lingering notes of vanilla bean, oak char, and a mild molasses sweetness. Fresh and elegant, leaving the palate ready for another sip.
An easy-drinking yet characterful rum that showcases the gentle sweetness of Guatemalan distillate and the mellowing influence of ex-bourbon casks. Ideal for sipping neat or as a refined base for elevated rum cocktails.
Please note that specific tasting notes may vary slightly depending on the cask selection and individual palate.
