27 Year Old - Jamaican Rum
SINGLE CASK, AGED RUM - JAMAICA
This 27 Year Old Jamaica Rum was produced at the Long Pond Distillery located in the Trelawny parish well known for their rum production. This particular rum marque ITP ( Ive Trelawny Pot) was distilled in the historic John Dore pot still in Jamaica and is one of the lighter variations of pot still productions used by the distillery, this rum has an average ester count of 90-120 esters per g/hL.
This rum was distilled in April 1998 and matured in American Oak for 10 years in Jamaica, then imported to the UK in 2008 and refilled into American Oak for further maturation. The casks currently lay in bond in the UK.
The Long Pond distillery's history and heritage dates back as far as 1753, which is similar to that of Hampden Estate. The two distilleries shaped many of the sugar estates and rum production facilities located all over the island but the Trelawny province, in particular Hampden Estate and Long Pond, are recognised for their esterified rums which are a notable characteristic of Jamaican style rums that are in the main pot still production.

On The Nose: The aroma is light, very approachable, rich tropical fruit notes, with floral hints, lemon drizzle cake, caramelising sugar and charred oak.
On the Palate: The rum feels less crowded, with pronounced baking and wood spices working through to citrus zest. It feels well balanced on the palate with wood and rich tropical fruit complexity, grilled banana and chocolate flavours develop.
The Finish: The finish is of good length, influenced by the tropical fruit and charred oak notes from the nose, with lingering hints of banana and spice, smooth finish with a touch of chocolate, caramel, vanilla and coconut notes.
